Here at Art Smart, we are not just an ordinary art school, and we do this by letting our actions speak louder than our words. We get asked a lot what the Art Smart experience is like, how we teach our students, and why our students are able to bring home beautiful artworks to their parents. Allow us to let you inside our world!
Guided instruction and independence
Teachers demonstrate and impart techniques and fundamentals as the kids paint. We insert fundamentals as they work so they understand the concepts better. We become the eye of the kids for quality and correct them when they make mistakes so they get used to proper proportions and shading. We train their eyes to see what should be so they eventually see if there is something wrong with their paintings. If there is a simple slant to a vertical line, we immediately point it out so they can see it the next time.
Simple and effective reminders
Before our students start to paint, we always give them these five reminders:
We also remind our students to take a look at their paintings from afar to see what needs to be improved. We ask them what their assessment is before letting them fix or add the final details. We also give our feedback and input and it becomes a learning experience for them.
2:1 student-to-teacher ratio
This is beneficial two ways. For teachers, this allows them to connect with their students, identify their strengths, point out their weaknesses and do the necessary improvements. For students, they get the most out of every art session! With the personalized attention they receive, they become more confident in their skills. Again, their teachers become their eye for quality and proportion until they get used to it.
High standards for quality
Parents often ask us if their kids really do their own paintings. We say yes because we do not allow mediocre work. We assure parents that what their children receive and bring home from is 100% high quality work. Their kids are taught by teachers who are well-trained and are artists themselves before they teach.
We are proud of the young artists we teach and mold through the years. With our unique approach and art instruction, our students receive the right preparation if they want to pursue art professionally in the future or simply explore their passion in the arts.
