We all know that art and creativity are vital to kids' development. The benefits are not only enjoyed during their youth, but it has far-reaching influence as they get older.

This is why at the core of these two essential elements of life is the importance of it being started at home. Artful living where families are constantly engaged in art together experience plenty of benefits. In this article, we will list down seven of them that echoes this overarching sentiment - every good thing begins at home.

Doing art as a family encourages quality time

It is purely understandable that weekdays are reserved for work and school. But during the weekends, when it is spent doing art together as a family (or any activity for that matter), art becomes a great way for your family to have that well-deserved quality time together.

There are plenty of ways you can ensure quality time over art with the whole family.

You can start off by talking about the kind of work you wish to achieve at the end of your art session or you can divide a whole artwork into different canvases and let each member finish their assigned portion. Plan with the whole family and have fun buying the materials you will need as well - another opportunity for quality bonding time with every member of your brood!

It cultivates creativity and ingenuity

This does not only benefit the younger members of the family. Even adults can take advantage of the creativity and ingenuity doing art together as a family can bring to life!

Let your imagination run free during your art family sessions! Let loose!

The creativity and ingenuity you develop will have amazing benefits as you go on with the daily course of your life. To name a few, you will be able to think more quickly and more critically, you will be able to come up with sounder solutions, you will be able to to tap the world your imagination shows you and you get to be calmer when making decisions too!

Remember that art is also a great way to remove all the stress in your head!

You get to know your family better

Since artworks are unique from one another and it is a reflection of the person who created it, doing art as a family is a fantastic way to get to know the members of your family!

Sometimes, it is what we do not communicate verbally that best expresses who we are and what are true selves are like. Judging by the colors we choose to use in our painting, the intensity of the strokes we create with our paintbrushes, the subject we think of as we draft what our painting will be like - all these are a great reflection of our personalities, wants and preferences in real life.

Take advantage of spending art with your family in trying to get to know one another better. You'd be surprised and grateful at the same to get to know your family in a different way!

You can hang your lovely artwork at home

One of the best things when creating art together as a family is you get to keep your artworks and hang it in your house. Although there are lovely home accents that you can buy to help transform your house into a home, no accent has a more home-like vibe than the art your family created with their very own hands.

When you see your artwork displayed in your family's living room, it's difficult not to get captivated by it and be reminded of the different special moments that took place during your family's art session. The paintings you created with your family will resonate with your heart forever.

Eventually, as you and your family create a good number of paintings, there is also that option of converting a room into your family's very own art gallery - a great conversation starter when you have your relatives and friends over at your house!

Art is a better way to spend time with the family

Art is one of the best bonding times we believe every family should spend time on. But do not get us wrong though! Spending time with your family in the mall, watching a much-awaited movie, visiting a new country, or learning an entirely new skill altogether are great, but doing art together should be one of your options!

Plus, if you get to buy all the materials you will need, there is no need to step outside of the home to get your family art sessions started! Even the food and drinks you will savor in between your art session will be lovingly prepared at home too, helping you save more time and money!

A great start to a better future for the kids

Especially if your kids are artistically-inclined, spending time with them to create art is a great way to mold their future.

Every budding artist should start somewhere and what better way to start a great career in the arts than at home? Plus, nothing can match the inspiration and guidance a family can give a family member who wants to be an artist someday. If you think a family member has a unique talent in the arts, encourage family art sessions as often as you could!

Of course, hone the artistic talents grown at home by encouraging kids to take up advanced classes outside of the house. This can be done through enrollment in art schools that focus on developing and improving basic art skills and graduating next to the more advanced ones.

It's always great to learn something new regularly

Learning something new is not only beneficial to our minds, but doing it together as a family makes it a special experience even more!

With so many art tutorials on YouTube and art schools that have family art sessions on offer, there is no excuse not to learn the wonders of art with your whole family. Think about learning to do art as an additional life skill in your arsenal!

It would be a lot of fun to take art classes with my family. That would be a great way to get in some quality time, like you said. I like that you also said it can be a good way to communicate with each other when it may be difficult to verbally.

My uncle has been thinking about learning something new that he can have more fun with his family. He would really enjoy taking an online art course from a professional, so that he can learn a lot more about it. I'll be sure to tell him that he can do to with his kids and they can have some better inspiration.

Thank you for helping me to understand that art classes can help my family get to know each other better. I am wanting my family to build better relationships with each other. It seems like it would be a good idea for me to find a local place that offers art classes for groups.

Hi! You may start with doing activities that you can do together at home. There are many things online classes now or even you tube videos you can do together. Start with those.

I'd love to get to know my family by doing art with them. All of my siblings and I are grown up now. But we could meet at our parents' house and make some art together this weekend.

I appreciate that this post highlighted that one of the benefits of bonding with our family through art is that it fosters creativity and originality. The other day my wife mentioned she would like to make art crafts with glass bottles. I will definitely encourage my wife to take up art bottles to do with our kids.

Thanks for pointing out that doing art as a family encourages quality time. This is helpful because my husband and I want to spend more time with our five kids. With this, we are hoping to find smoking wood chips on Monday that we can eat while chatting and catching up.

I like that you say that doing art as a family is a great way to get to know the people in your family since artworks are distinct from one another and are a reflection of the person who produced them. My sister wants to get her daughter involved in the activities. I'll advise her to enroll in art classes.

I liked it the most when you shared that art can make the best bonding time for family. My friend wants customised mural for their building. I should advise him to go for it to boost the curb appeal of their property.
