With a bunch of creativity and ingenuity, there are tons of artsy yet practical things you can do with recycled materials.

Do you have recycled materials at home ready to be thrown in the garbage? Before discarding them all away, try to reconsider a few items that you can turn into something useful at home. In this article, we’ll share with you some fun practical projects you can do with recycled materials you are probably running into almost every day. Let’s begin!

Convert toilet tissue rolls into desk and drawer organizers

Do you notice that you are accumulating a ton of toilet tissue rolls in your home?

Don't throw those rounded card boards away because you can actually turn them into something neat, specifically something for your desk and drawers!

If you are like most people whose desks and drawers are always in a complete mess (this is despite how many times you organize its contents and vow to yourself to keep it in order), toilet tissue rolls are here to help you.

You can use tissue rolls in organizing your pens, for storing your makeup, for tidying up your wires, headphones and cables - just to name a just a few of the hundreds of ways it can transform your desk and drawers into a neat space.

Cut your tissue rolls to meet the height of your drawer, paint it for added life and color, use fabric tapes too if you want to skip the paint and use labels, especially when it comes to your wires.

Transform softdrink bottles into planters

If you are into gardening and already thinking whether you should buy yourself more pots for your plants, consider your empty softdrink bottles first as these can turn into fantastic planters!

And doing so is very simple!

If you are keen on doing a hanging planter similar to the very first image we have on this blog, all you need to do is seal the bottle with its cap, cut a small portion of the body and then start filling it up with soil and your choice of plant seeds.

Punch some holes on the bottle where you can add your string or twine so you can hang it in your garden.

Create mosaic art with bottle caps

While this does not really qualify as 'easy', using colorful bottle caps in creating mosaic art is a great way to expand your artistic side! Ultimately, this goes for plastic or metallic bottle caps. For as long as it is in the color that you need to create your art, then by all means use it in completing your mosaics.

Start by drawing your sketch and create the outlines for you to follow on a piece of card board or illustration board or basically anything that can keep all your bottle caps glued together. Gather as many bottle caps as you can in the colors that you need before getting started. Use a glue gun (if you are using metallic bottle caps) and a normal glue (if you are using plastic bottle caps).

Check out some mosaic art using bottle caps! Amazing, isn't it?

Turn empty bottles into flower vases

Are you accumulating empty bottles in your garage? Instead of breaking them or sending them away to a scrap store, why not turn them into fancy flower vases for your living room?

Although you can also use empty bottles (like wine bottles, bottle food containers and other similar breakables) as water pitchers, you can use them for your flowers. Especially if your bottles come in unique shapes, a little splash of paint and some ribbons and laces can give your living room its much needed ooomph. Check out these bottles turned flower vases below for some inspiration.

Empty tin cans and empty bottles for your bread spreads also make for unique flower vases!

Change ordinary boxes into decorative storage boxes

Do you always buy groceries and have it placed inside boxes? Instead of throwing away these boxes once you get home or transforming them into temporary garbage boxes, why not use them for additional storage in your room?

Use decorative wrappers, fabric tapes, magazine pages or paint to add life to these ordinary packing boxes! You can even use colors that fit the theme of your room so it goes in style! Consider using shoe boxes too for organizing small items found in your room.

I like that this post shared that it is possible for us to turn recyclable items into art and as such giving them a second life. My wife shared that she has a handful of beer bottles that she has no idea what to do with. Since she loves art, maybe she can consider channeling her creativity into art bottles. In fact, I think I will look for samples for my wife to look at.
