People love arts and crafts. Some do for the sheer love of it and some just really want to learn to do something else aside from the projects they are so good at already. It's always a fine idea to learn something new and learning new crafts every once in a while is indeed a great exercise of creativity. In this article, we have five craft idea projects that you can get started today! Are you ready to find out what they are? :)
Do tie dyes
First step to creating tie dyes is to gather all your supplies. Make sure you have your dyes (there are plenty of colors to choose from and you can buy these at bookstores), high-quality rubber bands, plastic gloves, a large garbage bag to cover your work area and some resealable bags to place your shirts, pillow cases or towels while you wait for the dye to set in.
Lay down your canvas, pinch somewhere on the surface and start twisting. This will create the different fun swirls and patterns on your canvas. Create pleats too so the final result will look truly exciting!
Carefully wrap your twisted and folded canvas with rubber brands. Intersect them for a more artistic touch.
Dye your canvas! Prepare your dyes using the instructions in the pack. This can be a little messy so make sure your work area is completely covered and your plastic gloves are on your hands. Place your dyes in bowls or diluted bottles and start applying on your canvas.
Don't worry when the dyes cross one another. This will make it look more interesting.
Let the dye sit by placing your canvas inside the resealable plastic bags. After six to eight hours, rinse your canvas with running water. Rinse until the water is clear. Let it dry and enjoy your masterpiece!
Learn calligraphy
There are tons of videos on YouTube that you can watch on calligraphy for beginners. There are also books that you can read up that are filled with techniques and tips. Make sure you have tools like your dip and broad-nibbed pens, a craft knife, calligraphy ink, and tons of practice paper.
If we learned how to write with three horizontal lines as a guide, then you will need it do as you learn your way around calligraphy. Practice makes perfect, they say, and pretty soon, you'll be able to create fine lettering on your diaries, invitations, posters and more. Just exciting times ahead!
Go outdoors and start gardening
Another way to get creative with pot planting is to paint the pots you will actually use. It's a fun weekend activity you can do with your other household members and friends. Bring out your clay pots, your recycled pots and some paint. Your creativity for your pots' designs are unlimited!
Learn how to crochet
Have your hooks ready plus your colorful yarns! Like calligraphy, there are many videos online you can watch for tips, techniques and patterns. Knitting is also a similar craft you can learn and use as you create more stuff to wear and even display at home. Likewise, if you love working your way around yarns and hooks, then you might love cross stitching too.
Create exquisite jewelry pieces
For beginners, it is best to work with the type of jewelry that excites you the most. For example, if you love bracelets, then it will be easier for you to be extra creative with the designs and patterns you will create for your arm garb.
You can experiment with beads, gems, pendants and other trinkets that you can source. Make sure you have the basic tools on hand, such as pliers, metal punches, wires, shears and a wire clamp so you won't hurt your fingers as you form your very own jewelry pieces.
